India is carrying out attacks on Pakistan using Harop kamikaze drones, made in Israel.
According to official reports and images shared on social media, cities such as Lahore, Karachi, Chakwal, and Gujranwala are among the nine locations under attack.
In response, Pakistani forces are shooting down the drones with anti-aircraft weapons, such as the 35mm Oerlikon GDF cannons and the Skyguard system. The Pakistani military spokesperson reported that at least 12 drones were initially shot down, with four soldiers wounded in Lahore.
As the attacks progress, reports of drones being shot down have increased, and several images of the wreckage have been posted online. The account Defense Pakistan stated that 35 drones have already been destroyed, although this number has not been independently verified. On the other hand, Indian users also shared images claiming to have hit Pakistan’s air defense systems of Chinese origin.
The Harop drone weighs 135 kg, has a flight range of up to 6 hours, and a range of 1,000 km. It can be used as precision munitions against detected targets, with a 16 kg warhead. If no target is identified, the drone returns to base. Its launch takes place from containers installed on mobile platforms, and target searching is done using electro-optical sensors and radar.
